Study of a stepper motor characteristics and control.

This microcontroller based control circuit is used to accurately generate pulses to energize the stepper motor winding in the desired sequence. Power transistor based driver circuit is used to generate driver signals. LCD display is provided to display parameters and control signal values. The controller can be used to set the speed of the stepper motor in RPM mode, setting the number of steps the motor can move. The direction of rotation can be interchanged to clockwise or counter clockwise. The mode can be changed to either half step mode or full step mode.

A stepper motor of 3kg torque fitted to a dial marked in both degree and step is provided.
